Group Financial Accountant (Tax)

Synopsis

Client based in Bellville is looking for a qualified CA for their Group Financial Accountant vacancy.

Only candidates that meet the requirements set out below will be considered for the position.


Minimum Requirements

• CA (SA), newly or recently qualified
• Excellent academic track record
• Advanced Microsoft Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint skills
• Willingness to study HDip Tax
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• High standards of accuracy and precision (attention to detail), strong organizational skills
• Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Driven and self-motivated
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Technically very strong in IFRS and Tax


Role Description

1. Corporate tax
• Monitors the developments of the South African Income Tax and VAT Act
• Prepares quarterly income tax calculations for all group companies
• Calculates provisional tax payment amounts
• Assists external consultants in preparation of annual tax returns
• Prepares monthly VAT calculations and submission of VAT returns
• Resolve all tax related queries
• Facilitate the Tax Committee meetings
• Responsible for obtaining Tax clearance certificates
2. Financial Management
• Oversees the daily accounting activities required to maintain the organisation’s general ledger
• Resolves complex accounting issues or assists other personnel in resolving financial issues
• Reviews general ledger on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of posting
• Tracks monthly OPEX spend
• Ensures monthly OPEX reports are generated
• Reports on budget variances
• Authorizes expenditure within LOA
• Take overall responsibility for the asset register
• Facilitate the Finance Committee meetings
• Assists the finance team as required
3. Financial accounting
• Monitors loan covenants
• Provides financial information to external business partners (banks, insurance broker, Auditors etc.)
• Assists with monthly and annual closing of accounting records
• Intercompany reconciliations
• Assist with quarterly audit reviews
• Assists with annual financial statement audit
4. Reporting
• Prepares IFRS compliant, consolidated monthly/quarterly/annual management accounts.
• Assists in preparation of quarterly reporting packs.
• Develops financial and operational reports for company management and Global
• Prepares statutory, consolidated annual financial statements, compliant with IFRS and the Companies Act
• Responsible for the preparation of subsidiary statutory financial statements
• Monitors the accounting and reporting developments ito IFRS


City: Bellville, Western Cape

Salary: Up to R450K per annum dependant on experience

Duration: Permanent
